Spotlight 10k Challenge 2015 · 13 September 2015 ·
In this day and age every cause is a great cause. Especially when so many of us have fewer and fewer pennies. Theatre can be a cruel mistress. Many of us will never buy a house . As cuts deepen and funds become scarcer and scarcer there will be less and less work. I running for the Theatrical Guild as Belinda Lang and Beatrice Curnew ( and of course many others but these two are personal to me) do such fantastic work. I also decided to run with The Theatrical Guild as it seems to make perfect sense. I have a foot in each camp and sometimes feel like I don't belong in either. I am lucky to have my health and be able to work "in between jobs" (however long that in between might be) I am lucky not to have dependants that I am struggling to support. I am lucky not to have my house repossessed as I can't keep up my repayments. I am running for the friends and loved ones I have met along the way that are struggling. I am running for the friends and loved ones I have not yet met who could do with our help. I am running as the reason we don't overthrow the cruel mistress is we love it and we couldn't exist without it. I am running because the one best things about our profession is the sense of community and how we pull together. I am also running because I am quite scared about doing 10 km so am trying to embrace the challenge. I am also running as when I was being a wimp about it someone told me Vanessa Redgrave is running and I thought if Vanessa can do it then I have absolutely no excuse.
