Reading Single Homeless Project - Big Sleep Out 2010 · 23 April 2010 ·

Launchpad is Reading’s leading homelessness prevention charity, providing vital information and support for individuals, couples and families who are homeless or are at risk of losing their home. With your support and generosity, we helped over 1,100 people get back on their feet last year.

Story

We are sleeping in a box overnight, in Britain, in April. It's not what we do for kicks! Please give as much as you can and cross your fingers for good weather...

RSHP are a fab local charity, supporting the Reading homeless. Check them out at http://www.rshp.co.uk/

Homelessness can affect anyone unlucky enough to lose their support network of family and friends. We tend to marginalise the homeless and hold them responsible for turning around their own fortunes. The reality of doing so can too often prove too much. Addictions or mental health problems almost always follow some kind of a breakdown whether due to divorce, job loss, eviction, a death or a simple collapse of normality. The process of getting back to this normality can be scary when the street community is the only one you know and understand. People in this situation need our help, not our judgement. We want to do something positive about all of this by raising a bit of cash to keep the RSHP's good work going!

Thank you!
