Cat Salutes You!

South Lakeland Mind aims to enhance the quality of life of people who experience mental and emotional health problems. You're probably familiar with the statistic that 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem in a given year. What this doesn't tell you is that these are largely invisible, which means that a lot of people are trying to cope with extremely hostile or confusing circumstances in isolation. But South Lakeland Mind are there to help. They offer advice, support and information to people with short-term and enduring mental health issues. As a volunteer I've seen first-hand how SLM helps people to manage their diagnoses, feel happier and healthier and become active participants in their local community. Whether it's a cup of tea and a chat at the drop-in, counselling, meditation and holistic therapy, or any number of different social activities, it's the small things that can make a big difference. At Mind we believe that everyone has the right to live a full life, to be treated with respect and to be involved with their own care and recovery. My yoga practice has been a guiding light in darker times so it feels right to do 108 sun salutations in aid of Mind. The yogathon takes place at the OM Yoga Show in London on 27th October and is going to be a doozy! Please give anything you can to support me and this particularly excellent branch of Mind.
