Catherine's Walk with joy

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I tested positive for BRCA2 in February 2013, just two months after my third baby - James was born. Being BRCA positive means that without preventative surgery my chances of being diagnosed with breast or ovarian cancer in my 40s and or 50s start at 80%.
I chose to have a double mastectomy and reconstruction in December 2013 and had my ovaries removed in November 2015. My chances of being diagnosed with breast and / or ovarian cancer are now less than 1%.
Many brilliant and generous people have helped make my journey smoother and given me the courage to keep on walking. Without Gael, the Genetics Counsellor, Richard, the Breast Surgeon, Niki, the Plastic Surgeon, Dave the Clinical Nurse, the Oxford BRA Group, the BRCA Umbrella, Ovarian Cancer Action, Jan, the HRT Specialist I couldn't have walked in and out of surgery with my head held high and knowing I was taking the chance to live my life to the fullest, for a long time.
Please help these amazing people and groups continue to help men and women like me and make a big or small donation through my JustGiving page.
