We fund biomedical research into ME to create a strategy for cure/treatment

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My lovely sister Sue has been fighting this horrible illness for 20 years and it has stolen her life. She has gone from being an active PE teacher to being totally dependent on others. She is bed bound, cannot move her arms or legs and is in constant pain. Watching TV, listening to music and even talking bring on severe pain. Medical specialists describe the suffering of severe ME patients as being comparable to those undergoing chemotherapy, or AIDS patients in the last few weeks of life. There is very little understanding of ME and few realise the extent of it . There is so much more to it than 'extreme tiredness' as is often perceived. About 250,000  people in the UK are affected, 25% severely. There is even less funding for research into its causes and hopefully eventual treatment of the illness.

Despite this my sister has always been incredibly positive and hopeful.  I know she would have loved to run a half marathon, (or knowing her a full one!). As she can't I am prising myself off the sofa and hoping I will be able to run it for her,and raise a bit of money for research at the same time. Any donation will be really gratefully received, thank you!
