2010 Great North Swim · 4 September 2010 ·
THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page & a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me already. In September me and my Aunty Liz (she is raising money for the Red Cross) have decided to do the Great North Swim, which involves swimming one mile across Lake Windermere, and I'm quite excited about it. I've already started training, so am confident that I will be able to complete the swim. I'll update the website with my training over Summer. Also, if anyone would like to come to Windermere on the day to support me, and go for lunch in Windermere afterwards, you would be very welcome, providing you promise not to laugh when you see me in a wetsuit and swimming cap! The date I am swimming is the 5th September, not the 4th as this website says!
TRAINING UPDATE: 2nd September - not long to go now, and I am very nervous! I did my last training swim last night, and was very pleased with my time. Fingers crossed for some sunshine on the day!!
I'm going to take the opportunity to raise money for the Rainbow Trust. The Rainbow Trust Children's Charity is a fantastic charity that provides emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. Rainbow Trust's Family Support Workers join the family in their own home and are there to provide practical support. They are contactable 24 hours a day for families in crisis from diagnosis, through treatment and even after bereavement. For more details, have a look on their website www.rainbowtrust.org.uk
So please, please, please sponsor me. You will be helping a wonderful cause and helping to motivate me to carry on with my training!! Just so you know where your money is going:
- £100 will pay for 5 visits to a child in hospital
- £500 will allow the 24 hour telephone helpline to run for a month
- £800 pays for 40 hours of care from a Family Support Worker.
A few people have asked about costs for the event - don't worry, I have already paid to enter the event and covered all costs myself so any money you donate will go straight through just giving and on to the charity.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now, it will make me very happy!!
Thanks in advance,
Lots of love
