The Lucas Story

I lost a much loved grandson to a rare type of cancer in May 2010.He was just 13 years old, and the most wonderful person - kind, thoughtful, and full of energy, and above all - he loved football.Even during his illness he was 'designing' for his own football team. His Father - my son- is English and his Mother is Norwegian, and he enjoyed a great childhood in a happy and secure family with 2 younger brothers, Casper and Oliver. After his illness was diagnosed in February last year he went downhill rapidly and nothing could be done to slow down the internal melanomas, which destroyed him so tragically. The family are devastated, but want to keep his memory alive, so his Father, Chris, has set up a Foundation called Lucas FC (Foundation for Children) which is raising money for young people in a number of good causes in third world countries.

I, as his Grandmother, am supporting Alive and Kicking. You can find out more about this excellent charity on their website <www.aliveandkicking.org.uk> . I am holding a Fund Raising Event in February in support of the above Charity. It will comprise an Exhibition of my paintings + a presentation and publicity about Alive and Kicking and an opportunity to donate.

£12.50 will pay for a ball to be donated to a child in Africa. To make a donation related to Lucas FC go to the Donate page where there is an option to 'leave a message for the seller' where you can type: 'in honour of Lucas FC' or something similar.

Gift aid can be claimed on donations, but not on ball sales.

The Venue: Stapleford, a village on the outskirts of Cambridge

Times: Saturday 12th February 6-10pm; Sunday 13th February 10am-4pm.

Do support this cause, either by buying or donating footballs and/or coming to my Exhibition.

See you there! Catherine Spencer
