This page has been set up on behalf of Malcolm Palmer, who's daughter, Catherine Swift, recently passed away. Malcolm has provided a few words to accompany this JustGiving page and to explain why these donations are so important, and gratefully received:
| "Catherine Swift was the younger of
our two daughters. She was 36 years old and the mother of two
beautiful little girls, Pippa and Juliet aged 7 and 5 years
respectively. In late January she was diagnosed with stomach and
ovarian cancer, and after an operation and one bout of chemotherapy she
was so ill that she gave up on the chemo’ and had 3 weeks of quality
time with her girls. Shortly after our ruby wedding, where for a short
while she was the life and soul of the party, she got a lot worse again
and went to LOROS, the hospice which is the subject of this appeal. And
what a wonderful place it is. From the volunteer staff to the medical
staff they are all so dedicated to making life as comfortable as
possible for the patients. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone.
Some of the rooms for terminal patients have an extra bed for use of
close family whilst others have reclining armchairs which our
son-in-law was very grateful for during his 5 day vigil. LOROS is funded about 40% by the state and the rest must come from fundraising and private donations which is why we are asking you for a donation to help their wonderful work in memory of our beloved daughter Catherine" | ||||
