The Sickle Cell Society is the only national charity in the UK that supports and represents people affected by sickle cell disease to improve their overall quality of life. We provide information, advice, advocacy, respite, support services, hold talks, patient education seminars and training.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page where you can help make our wedding even more special by donating.  The money you give will go to the The Sickle Cell Society from whom one of our families has received support in the past.

Sickle Cell Disorders are serious, inherited conditions affecting the blood and various organs in the body.  Sickle cell causes episodes of pain, long-term complications and can be life-threatning.  It is more common in people of African, African-Carribean, Asian and Mediterranean origin.  The Sickle Cell Society was founded in 1979 and provides information, counselling, advocacy, respite and financial assistance for those with sickle cell disorders and their families so they can live their lives to its full potential.  They also provide training and education to health professionals so sickle cell sufferers to receive the right quality care.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thanks

Catherine & Frank.
