Bupa Great North Run 2012 · 16 September 2012 ·

We want all children to thrive in their families and have loving relationships. We work to build an effective child welfare system to make that a reality. We advise parents and kinship carers, run projects like Lifelong Links for young people in care and we campaign for better support for families.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running 4 half marathons this year (did the Vienna half marathon in April accompanied by Kevin who allowed me to witter on nonsensically in final 5k to keep my spirits up), the Great North Run half marathon in September, the Royal Parks half marathon and Run to the Beat half marathon in October). I also run in my own little way the British London 10k in July - to raise monies to set up local support groups for family and friends carers who are raising children who cannot live with their parents and for fun days for the children. Family Rights Group doesn't receive any other monies to do this crucial work aside from donations and the financial climate to raise funds is getting even tougher.  Carers tell me such support groups and days out are often a lifeline, providing necessary relief from the isolation they so often feel as well as emotional support and practical tips from their peers. For many children it's the first time they have met others in a similar situation to themselves. Yet few areas have such local groups.

Many thanks if you've given in previous years - any amount you can give, however, small, is really appreciated and will be well spent.

Thank you

Cathy
