Story

Hi all...Thanks for logging onto my just giving page...please donate as much as you can!

The training has been going well and I'm actually starting to enjoy running for the first time in my life! Unfortunately I've slowed down in a little in December, my evening runs have been replaced by one too many Christmas dinners (ok, and a few alcoholic beverages)

I've been reading a few quotes from some runner type people to help inspire me....

Emil Zatopek, Czech runner; winner of four Olympic gold medals:

"We are different, in essence, from other men. If you want to win something, run 100 meters. If you want to experience something, run a marathon." (inspiring)

Hal Higdon, running writer and coach:

"The difference between the mile and the marathon is the difference between burning your fingers with a match and being slowly roasted over hot coals." (oh god)

John Hanc, running writer

"I've learned that finishing a marathon isn't just an athletic achievement. It's a state of mind; a state of mind that says anything is possible." (inspiring)

Rob de Castella, winner 1983 World Marathon Championships:

"If you feel bad at 10 miles, you're in trouble. If you feel bad at 20 miles, you're normal. If you don't feel bad at 26 miles, you're abnormal." (great!!!)

Ok, so im not quite at their level... !!

I have 2 great training partners Emma and Ranna who help keep me motivated.

I'm running for a brilliant charity called UK Youth, logon onto  www.ukyouth.org for more information and see below:

UK Youth exists to develop and promote innovative non-formal education programmes for and with young people - working with them to develop their potential.

Their work with young people can and does make a lasting impact by encouraging young people to take responsibility and become involved citizens. It gives a voice to people who arent too rarely heard and builds skills that will remain useful throughout their lives.
