Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page...
The last time that I did something sponsored was 25 yrs ago, and it was a ‘fast’. Now those of you that know me well, also know that, that would never happen again!
So, I had to think of something equally painful to WOW people into sponsoring me, and as I work for a wonderful charity, with adults with learning disabilities, and we run a bicycle recycling project as part of that charity, I thought a sponsored 46 mile cycle ride would do the trick!
Its not quite the Tour de France, more like the Tour de Papworth Centre in Cambridgeshire, but a challenge none the less… and Andrew Lansley seemed to be impressed with the idea too! http://www.papworth.org.uk/news-detail.php?aid=226 for the full story…
£2012 by 2012 is the target set out by the Papworth Trust to fundraise because we are passionate about helping disabled people, giving them equality, choice and independence. By raising for this campaign, you will help us to support more disabled people. Here are just some of the things that £2012 could contribute to:
- £2,500 will pay for adaptations so that 10 people can stay living in their home after they have acquired a disability
- £500 will buy specialist software that uses symbols to help effectively communicate with people with learning disabilities
- £268 will buy a Wii Fit and two sports games so that disabled people can enjoy exercise with friends
- £172 will pay for a minibus for a day so that people on a low income can enjoy a day out
- £65 will pay for 10 disabled people to go bowling on a Saturday evening
What doe £2012 mean for OWL... I am working on a refurbishment project for this September and we are converting a double garage into a training kitchen with specialist equipment that’s adjustable as required. This kitchen will allow us to offer an independent living skills program from September, and with the extra space we can offer more daily places at the OWL Centre. £2012 will go a long way to helping us equip this specialist training kitchen.
So bearing in mind, that I won’t be bothering you for sponsorship for another 25 yrs, it really is a one off, please dig deep and help me to help others…
I really appreciate your support.
Best Wishes
Cathy
