<p>Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.</p> <p>At about the same time as we were thinking of finally realising a long-held ambition to climb Kilimanjaro, a very close friend of ours, Geoff Thorpe was diagnosed with mesothelioma.</p> <p>Very sadly, Geoff died from the disease in January 2011. We had already booked our trip for this summer, so as a tribute to Geoff's unfailing patience and bravery during his illness, we decided that this would be an especially good cause to target for fundraising.</p> <p>We reached the summit together on 19 June 2011, after 6 days on the mountain and a final gruelling 7 hour slog in the dark up to Stella Point and on to Uhuru. We are so grateful to all our friends, family and colleagues for their donations, and huge thanks to Geoff's family for their extra help with kit and moral support .
