I met Francesca through my work at Beatson Cancer Charity. At the time she had just been told she in remission for the first time. We spent an afternoon organising a large pile of donations for the appeal she had been one of the faces of. Not long into 2016 she got the news that the cancer was back and was sitting on her liver. This meant that her skin turned bright yellow which didn't stop her from making jokes about being a Simpson and being on brand with the charity! Again she fought the cancer and was in remission. She put together a team of over 100 people to take part in Off The Beatson Track last year. Just before the event she got the news that the cancer was back again. She was determined to walk the 10k and so she did. Sadly she passed away just 6 days afterwards leaving behind her Mum, Dad and little sister Chiara and a host of devastated family and friends.

The Mancini family remind me on a daily basis why I do my job. Oz comes into the place where his daughter died on a daily basis, I honestly have no idea how he does this. May has taken on the monumental task of getting an even bigger team together for this years event.
