Story
2012 was a pretty important year for The Hackney Pirates - we got into the swing of running workshops after school every single weekday, we produced another 6 amazing creative products, we built new relationships with schools, and we trained our 500th volunteer. The result of all this work was the 85% of the teachers we work with say they noticed a difference in the young people we're working with. That's a big change.
But in 2013, we need to do EVEN MORE. We're going to be moving into our permanent new home, so that we can increase the number of young people we're working with. This new space will be a hugely important step to making a long-term impact on learning in Hackney, and on setting the organisation onto an exciting and sustainable path for the future.
This is where we need your help - The Hackney Pirates team (Catriona, Camilla and Helena) will be running (we don't like running!) alongside a crew of our amazing volunteers. Any support you provide will be used to support the refurbishment and first year's rent of our new property, while we develop the business model that will support us into the future. This support will be critical to the organisation over the coming year - and will make us feel better about this crazy idea of running in Pirate outfits.
