Story
Hello,
Many thanks for visiting my JustGiving page!
As many of you may know, I am collaborating with the charity Kenyan Orphan Project (KOP) (registered number 1118528) funded in 2001 by three medical students. The charity supports local sustainable projects in Kisumu (Kenya), led by local partners, which aid vulnerable children such as orphans and street children.
KOP runs a Student Program in which students from across 14 UK Universities (Barts, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Dundee, Glasgow, Imperial, Kings, Leeds, Leicester, Manchester, Nottingham, Warwick) visit the partners in Kisumu for two weeks and help in two of the projects. This can be in a school, feeding center or street children’s center. This year almost 160 students will go to Kisumu (being me one of them!) and see how the money we have raised for the charity is making a difference in many children's lives.
In addition to this JustGiving page, I have started the fundraising initiative Charity Cake Friday (CCF), consisting in baking a Kenyan (or African) pudding every Friday and bringing it to my department. People have responded very positively and I am very thankful and excited about carrying on with this event! If you have the chance to come to the Royal School of Mines (RSM) (Imperial College) and find rooms 1.10 or 2.10, you will be able to donate while enjoying some cakes in good company :)
I will post updates on the weekly donations and images of the puddings!
If you want to find out more information, you can visit the KOP website
You can also follow the fundraising evolution of the Imperial KOP Summer Team 2013 and donate in our JustGiving page. If you want your donation to contribute to my £800 target, then please indicate my name in the comments of the donation.
Any donation will be much appreciated and 100% of it will go directly to the charity and its ongoing projects.
Many thanks for your time and help!!
Celia
