Centrica's Corporate Affairs team has decided to go on a unique team-building trip, walking between some of Centrica's energy assets, through the beautiful English country side. We'll be starting at the Thatcham Engineering Academy, and finishing at the Biomethane plant at Didcot. The team is raising money collectively, following a charity vote, for Winston's Wish - a cause we can all care about.

Every 22 minutes a child in Britain is bereaved of a parent; over 24,000 children are bereaved of a parent each year.

Winston’s Wish was founded 19 years ago to offer practical and emotional support to some of these children - helping them readjust to life following their loss and work through emotional circumstances that they are unlikely to have experienced before.

Now the leading childhood bereavement charity in the UK, Winston’s Wish offers support through a dedicated helpline, face to face meetings with specialist practitioners and residential weekends to rebuild a child’s confidence and self-esteem.

Every year Winston’s Wish has to raise £1.7m to be able to continue their work. Only 5% of this funding comes from the government, for the rest they rely purely on donations.

Your support would be helping more children benefit from the excellent programme Winston’s Wish is able to offer.

£200 allows them to man a national helpline for a day – making sure that an experienced family services team are on hand when someone really needs support.

£1,000 enables Winston’s Wish to deliver a training session to 20 professionals who in turn would work with and support many more bereaved children.

And our £10,000 target could pay for four children and their families to receive the full programme of support from Winston’s Wish.  This would typically be over a period of a year and would include attendance at a residential weekend as well as individual work and telephone support.
