Story

Thanks for visiting our team fundraising page.

The Safer Swansea Partnership based in Cockett Police Station have decided to set a challenge by having a team of six staff supported by our dedicated driver to take on the National Three Peaks in a continuous 24 hour period scheduled to take place on 27th September 2012.

We plan to travel up to Fort William the day before and then embark upon the challenge in the following order;

Ben Nevis; 1344 Metres (4409 ft)

Scafell Pike; 978 Metres (3209ft)

Snowdon; 1085 Metres (3560ft)

With an average of eleven hours driving between Scotland to Wales, time is almost certainly of the essence.

We've joined together to raise money for Ysgol Crug Glas Special School who require support to help fund a new hydrotherapy unit at the school. Both the staff and pupils at the school are truly inspirational.

The Project Explained

An excellent hydrotherapy pool was built at Ysgol Crug Glas in the late 1980s following a public appeal. It is used by disabled people from all over Swansea , including pupils at the school.  However, the excitement, pleasure and therapeutic benefit gained from using the pool are currently spoilt by the cramped, under-equipped changing and waiting areas.

This project aims to provide:

·        Additional larger changing areas

 ·        Ceiling-mounted hoists to maximise space and fully support health & safety

 ·        dedicated wheelchair storage bays

 ·        a public entrance separate from the school – improving security

 ·        more attractive and modern facilities for all users

A feasibility study and detailed work on the scheme development have been undertaken by Sylfaen Cynefin, a not-for-profit urban design organisation.
