Medical Detection Dogs trains dogs to detect the odour of disease. Our research includes cancer, Parkinson's and other diseases and could save millions of lives by improving diagnostics. We already help people manage complex, life-threatening medical conditions by training Medical Alert Dogs.

Refreshments have been kindly donated by JAMstudio Ltd. All we ask is that all participants make a small donation of around &pound;10 per head.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: small;">Dog owners across the country are being invited to take a <strong>Walk in the Dark</strong> this October to raise money for the charity . The fundraising event, sponsored by <strong><a href="http://www.collarways.com/"><span style="color: windowtext; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;">Collarways</span></a></strong>, will also highlight the importance of visibility when dog walking, especially when the nights draw in at autumn time.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://www.walkinthedark.org/more-about-witd/about-medical-detection-dogs/"><span style="color: windowtext;"><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;">Medical Detection Dogs</span></span></a></span></strong><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: small;"> trains specialist assistance dogs to help save the lives of people with medical conditions such as type 1 diabetes and Addison&rsquo;s disease. The charity&rsquo;s first achievement was successfully training dogs to sniff out cancer in human urine samples. The charity would like to help more people with life threatening and disabling medical conditions, but can only do so through continued financial support from the public.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: small;"><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Collarways</span></strong> are donating &pound;1 for every dog that walks wearing a <strong><a href="http://www.leuchtie.co.uk/"><span style="color: windowtext; mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">LEUCHTIE LED </span><span style="color: windowtext; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;">light collar</span></a></strong>. </span></span><a href="http://www.leuchtie.co.uk/"><span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;"><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;">LEUCHTIE LED light collars for dogs</span></span></a><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: small;"> provide a constant light source to ensure optimal visibility from dusk to dawn in all weather conditions.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">There is a 50 per cent increase in road accidents involving dogs during the winter months and many of these could be easily avoided if dogs were more visible to road users.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">But your dog doesn&rsquo;t have to wear a Leuchtie on the walk. Anybody can attend and all we ask is that you make a donation to Medical Detection Dogs through our walk organisers, Marie-Louise Dunk and john Wingate or through my just giving page.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> So come along my waggy tailed pals, lets go out for a sunday evening stroll and do something for a jolly good cause at the same time.</span></p>
