Challenge12 - Grand Union 100km Walk
Oliver Smith - Gavin T - Beth Collins - Alberto Anaya - Debbie Hopper - Betty Enders - Adam Harris - Simon Ponman
From the ever so comfortable settings of Madia Vale to Bletchley in Bucks, there is 100Km of the Grand Union Canal route and we'll be taking a little (!) stroll up that path. Up through some of the best parts of the lesser seen and greener parts of the capital that will start a rather epic jouney as we head north to the finish line. This is a 24 hour event starting on 28th June that is going to test more than the quality of those sports socks and the endless late night walks home from the pub. We'll be one big team, all working, supporting, and possibly carrying each other to the end point; If you would like to join us we'd be delighted to have you come along. I know 100km sound a long way, so if you would like to get involved, but don't feel you could go the whole 64 miles, then why not come along for a 25k or 50k walk and push us lot along the trip.
OLIVER SMITH:
I'm Ollie and I'll be the captain on this saunter up the river and I'm doing this because a few years ago my dad was dianosed with Cancer. He's been a grafter his whole life and this illness stopped him in his tracks with a resounding thud. Being a self employed roofer, not working means no income, which is never a nice thing to worry about while going through the big C. Then like a superhero out of the mist Macmillan Cancer Research came to our rescue. These lovely people did more than I realised and helped out in ways I never knew a charity would. My dad is back on his feet, and amazingly at 64, back at work, but I'll never forget what Macmillan did to get our familly through that time.
Macmillan help in so many ways and are fighting cancer in everyway possible. too many people come in contact with this terrible disease, help them to make this a battle we can win
