<p><strong><span style="color: #000080;">Thank you for visiting the Challenge 2012s sponsorship page for the Himalayan Trust UK.</span></strong></p>
<p>The Himalayan Trust UK is one of the three charities we are raising money for as part of Challenge 2012. We are completing 12 challenges throughout 2012, with the help of friends joining us on the way, which we are hoping you will sponsor all of us to complete.</p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">This is the page to give your sponsorship to<strong><span style="color: #000080;"> The Himalayan Trust UK</span></strong></span>.This trust was set up Sir Edmund Hillary to have a real and immediate impact on the Sherpa people of the Nepalese Himalayas. They aim to do only what the Sherpa people actually want and enable the Sherpa people to help themselves. The money raised goes straight to the people who need it (expenses are paid by the volunteers/trustees themselves, no by the money donated). They are currenlty working closely with REED (<span class="Normal-C">Rural Education and Environmental Development) in the </span><span class="Normal-C">Kangchenjunga area of the Himalayas to help create schools and teachers in the area. The prject has recently been set back by an earthquake that destroyed some of the school buildings built across the regoin, so your sponsorship is definately needed!</span></p>
<p><br>The inspiration for Challenge 2012 came whilst Amy was trekking in the Himalayas. The people, the environment, the scenery, the food, everything was an incredible experience and Amy wanted to give something back, but wanted a charity that covered health, education and environmental projects and where the money goes to the people who need it. Hence the Himalayan Trust UK was chosen. Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world and sometimes the simplest things we take for granted can make a huge diference. So please sponsor us to complete our challenges so we can help others face theirs.</p>
