The Synergy running team Charitable Underdogs (aka Nina, Iain, Jes, Bex, Suzi and Kels) will be taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon on the 9th October for a local charity, the White Lodge Centre, which provides a range of flexible and creative activities and opportunities for disabled children, young people and adults, for their families and for carers across Surrey and the surrounding area. Please see the link on the left hand side of this page for more information abou this fantastic charity.
We have been training hard for the event – as you can see from our photographs we are all fit as fiddles and ready to face the 21.097494 kilometre challenge.
We need to raise a massive £1250 for the Centre – and we need your help. But we don’t want to just take your money; we want to repay you for your generosity. And for this reason we have some fundraising activities lined up over the next 5 weeks, all taking place in the Synergy offices.
To kick off the fundraising Bex will be doing a sponsored silence (yes – this might be more challenging than the run itself) on Thursday 8 September.
Iain will be getting his apron on and baking some delightful confectionary goods for your pleasure, in exchange for a small donation. The rest of us might help him out. Watch this space.
Our very exciting grand finale will take place on the 7 October in the Shed. Oh yes, it is going to be good. The One and Only Martin Lennon has agreed to have his chest waxed: pay-per-strip on the day or just donate a chunk of money in honour of his heroism.
Look out for emails of further activities taking place, and any suggestions are more than welcome.
Finally, please do come along on the day to watch all our training and your benevolence come to fruition. The race begins at 9:30 at Hyde Park and continues through to Green Park and St James’ Park and back to Hyde Park. Perhaps we can celebrate with pie and chips and a pint!
