I will be climbing KILIMANJARO, the world’s highest free-standing mountain, this September. It will be my hardest personal challenge to date and is in aid of the mental health charity MIND.

This is a challenging 6-day trek to 5,895m above sea level, (the equivalent of 13.3 Empire state buildings), where I will have to face sub-zero temperatures and very thin air at high altitude.

Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem so that they do not have to experience it alone.
It is important to help support this charity as:

•Every year, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem, but hundreds of thousands of people are still struggling

•1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem such as anxiety and depression in any given week in England

•20% of adolescents may experience a mental health problem in any given year

•Suicide is the most common cause of death for men aged 20-49 years in England and Wales.

Knowing people close to me who have struggled with mental health issues and how tough it has been for them is one of the main reasons I decided to take up this challenge to help increase awareness and promote understanding of the issues.

To help raise money for this AMAZING charity I will be taking part in a large variety of events which will also include running the Liverpool Rock n Roll marathon as preparation for this physically demanding challenge!

So, if you’ve got this far I hope you are wondering what your generous donations will contribute towards.
I can reassure you that ALL MONEY RAISED WILL GO TO MIND.

Any donations big or small are greatly appreciated and will go a long way in helping MIND carry out important tasks such as:

•£3 could put our ‘Find the Words’ guidebook in local GP surgeries, helping people to make the crucial first step of asking their doctor for support

•£8 could answer a call to our Infoline, providing someone with vital support and information about help in their area

•£21 could run our online peer support community ‘Elefriends’ for an hour, helping people connect with others and feel less alone

•£50 could help us campaign for better mental health services from the Government, so more people get the support they need, as soon as they need it.

With the prevalence of mental health today, it is very likely you will know someone who has experienced the wilderness that mental health conditions create; so let’s come together by supporting this great cause, no matter how big or small, you can make a difference.
