Running the hills of Leeds in rain, sleet, hail and snow for miles, with merely your music in your ear as your companion is a challenge. However, the motivation to succeed and finish one of the world’s most famous races is something that keeps me going despite all the obstacles training can throw at you. By the time of the actual race I would have run over 300 miles.

 

This year I will be running through the roads of the Capital as part of the London Marathon 26.2 miles. However, the target of completing such a challenge is not the only motivating factor.

 

The Marathon has also enabled me to fundraise for “Emunah”. Emunah does fantastic work for children that haven’t had the upbringing or the luxuries that many of us take for granted.

 

Emunah in Israel helps thousands of children on a daily basis through its network of residential homes, high schools, day care centres and therapy and counselling centres. Emunah is one of the primary social welfare organisations in Israel and in 2008 was awarded the prestigious ‘Israel Prize’ for lifetime achievement and exceptional contribution to the nation.

 

British Emunah currently supports 36 projects across Israel, providing successful solutions to the ever changing needs of Israel’s most disadvantaged children. Funds raised in the UK go to support our projects and close links are maintained with every project undertaken. The annual cost of maintaining these projects is £500,000 before any additional capital outlay. When projects need help, perhaps to fund vital repairs, they always try to respond positively.

 

The London Marathon is challenge for anyone, especially as it is the first time I would have run that distance in my life. So if possible please could you support “Emunah” and make every step (55,334 steps) in the 26.2 miles a worthwile step for those who aren’t as fortunate as ourselves
