The Challenge
138,336 feet…………42,165 meters ………..70,000 steps…………twice the length of the circle line…….422 football pitches……….And an endless
amount of swearing……………

…The Plan
Several months ago (ok, a few weeks), we started our training positively (despairingly). We planned an intensive training plan (going for a run some days but not others) to ensure we were ready for the monstrous 26.2 miles in April 2010.

We have changed our eating habits (bigger portions), ensured we drank more non-alcoholic beverages (during the week only), bought some running gear (a pair of trainers) and embarked on our journey. We have quickly discovered that this will be the most rewarding (stupid) thing we have ever done.

We are learning to enjoy (despise) running four times (once) a week through picturesque fields (Chesham high street) on a perfect sunny day (grey and rainy)! One thing kept us going and its probably the same thing that will see us sprint (crawl) confidently (painfully) across the finish line in April…

…..the realisation that we are raising money that will go towards helping people affected by something that kills around 16,000 people a year in the UK alone…

…Bowel Cancer
Bowel cancer is the third most common cancer in the UK.
Each year more than 37,500 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK, that’s more than 100 people every day.
Bowel cancer is the second most common cancer in women after breast cancer.
Around 20,400 men are diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK each year making it the third most common cancer in men after prostate and lung cancer

…Why?
In 2007 Henry John Edwards (Niall’s Dad) died from Bowel Cancer aged just 55. In his memory and for all the people that have been affected by this and any form of cancer we are going to set about completing one of the most gruelling (rewarding) challenges we could think of!

….Now your bit
We do of course, want to raise as much money as possible and that’s where you come in!

Whatever you can give will be passed onto Lynn’s Bowel Cancer Campaign. Lynn’s is a small voluntary led charity that helps to support people affected by bowel cancer (read more using the link on the left).

Dig Deep, stump up, hand it over, gimme a few quid – however we ask you, you know we will keep on asking until you have made a pledge so lets get the ball rolling…..PURRRRLLLLLLEEEEAAAAASSSSSSEEEEEE……

….and THANK YOU!
