After cycling over 1000 miles round Western Europe last summer, our minds turned to this summer's challenge.
Working with the University of Kent's Cycling Club, four other members and I have cycled from John O'Groats in Scotland, to Land's End in Cornwall - the length of the UK.
In addition to this we stopped off at the "Three Peaks" and hiked to their summits. These being the three tallest mountains in the UK. Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales.
The journey was completed in 14 nights and was challenging to say the least! 1072 miles were cycled, 30 miles were hiked, 16740m were climbed on the bike and 3115m on foot.
It was decided to raise money in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support as we all know someone who has been affected by this disease - it is said that 1 in 6 people will be affected by cancer at some point in their lives. On a personal note, I have decided to do this trip in memory of my Grandad, who died in 2010 after a long battle with prostate cancer.
Our team hopes to raise £2000 for this great charity, so please dig deep and help us make our target!
