Story
I would be really grateful if you would sponsor me in the New York Marathon this November in support of Fairbridge, a fabulous charity that works with young people aged 13-25 who lack family support, exist on the margins of society and end up facing multiple issues such as homelessness, crime and substance abuse. Fairbridge recognises that inside every disadvantaged young person, there is a confident, positive individual trying to break out and gives them the self-confidence and skills they need to change their lives by offering them a unique combination of personal support and opportunity.
Last year alone, Fairbridge helped 3,728 young people, almost two-thirds of whom went on to achieve something tangible. They returned to the classroom, started a college course, got a qualification or found a job. Over a thousand are still actively engaged in the Programme. For these young people, Fairbridge was a new start – a chance to show the world who they really are. Fairbridge worked. In terms of my preparation, I am rather concerned to hear from others in training for the marathon that my "schedule" of taking the dog for a run around the Common may not be appropriate or sufficient for a full marathon, so my idea of targeting 4 hours may be a spot optimistic. I do however have a very fit dog. But to make it all seem really worthwhile I would be very grateful if you would sponsor me and help Fairbridge by donating through JustGiving, which as you probably know is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. Many, many thanks Charlie
