Hi,

Someone very close to me said 5 minutes before the race was due to start "You have all the gear and no idea". She had a good point...

I had done little to no preparation for this and it was the 1st time i had entered an event on this scale. Up until she said those chilling words i was sure i could wing 52 miles. Panic set in and the fear of god ran through me.

I then thought of the reason why i was doing it and the sponsorship from all the very kind people, i knew not finishing wasn't an option.

Off we went and 15 miles in i started feeling the burn and those chilling words haunting me with every push on the pedal. I turned my thoughts back to Maisie and with the help of energy bars / Gels i pushed on. The last 5 miles seemed to be the hardest, with nothing left in the tank (but still looking the part; you know who you are) I dug in and crossed the line in 4 hours 50 minutes actual. 4:25 not including traffic and wee stops.

Thanks again for all your support and you would be glad to know that i am indeed suffering...
