Hi all a massive thank you for last year. But it's now time to hit the road again as we embark on our next euro ride, this year we are riding from Turin to Geneva, a distance of some 350 miles up and over the alps, with some massive climbs. I will again be the support driver but as last year hope to do a little riding, I did enjoy it even if it was only 35miles in total. I will be hoping to raise a bit more for LAM this year, as you all know Helen has this very rare condition, so any help in raising awareness and money for research would be gratefully received. As many of you already know my beautiful wife Helen was diagnosed almost 2 years ago with a horrible lung disease called Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM).  This is a very rare disease that affects only women (currently 125 women in the UK) that slowly destroys the lung tissue causing breathlessness and eventual dependance on oxygen before the inevitable.  Sadly there is currently no treatmet for this disease except for the possible option of a lung transplant at end stage.  Unfortunately Helen has a rare blood group that may well stop her from being able to accept a lung even if one became available! But this is an opportunity to encourage ALL of you to make sure that you are on the register of ORGAN DONATION please visit www.uktransplant.org.uk and regsiter your details now.

In an attempt to create awareness about LAM I am going to be joining the cycle ride from Bordeaux to Barcelona in June 2010!!!  I know those of you that know me well will be gasping with shock and admiration!!  However, I am not doing the cycling BUT I will be the only support driver for 25 cyclists as well as head chef, BBC camera man and chief photographer driving from Leamington Spa to Barcelona via Bordeaux and back again.  I have therefore started this Just Giving site to raise money for LAM Action - a charity that is now very close to mine and Helen's hearts.  LAM Action has given us so much help and support over the last 2 years, they have helped us come to terms with things and introduced us to other Lammies! 

I hope that my desire to "mother" 25 cyclists through a large expanse of Europe will be enough to encourage you to dig deep and help me support LAM Action.
