Story

For one reason or another I thought that I would sign up to take on the Tough Guy Challenge this coming January. To this end, I am raising funds for the Tough Guy Heroes charity and I would love your support in helping me raise as much money as I can.

If you have not come across the Tough Guy Challenge then it might be difficult to imagine. Basically, it is a 10 mile run through the darkest and muddiest depths of the countryside in Middle England combined with a Royal Marines-esque assault course throughout the journey. Obstacles include electric tentacles (which have twice the shocking power of the tool used to stun bulls!); claustrophobic tunnels; high rope climbing frames and regular dips in the January-cold river that runs through the whole course.

Of the 5000 people who start, 40% do not finish. There are regularly cases of hypothermia and of broken bones.

This will not be a stroll in the park and so that is why I am keen to do it for an exceptionally good cause.

A friend of mine, Oli, with whom I went through uni and have ridden motorbikes around Europe, passed out of Sandhurst in August and is gearing up to go to Afghanistan in April. I am keen to support guys like Oli - the real Tough Guys of this nation - in whatever way I can, particularly if they get wounded while serving their country and trying to make the world a safer and better place.

Give generously and live vicariously through me as I take on the Tough Guy Challenge on 29th January 2012.
