My story

After running the Great South Run, my next challenge will be to climb Kilimanjaro (4th highest mountain in the world at 5895m). For those who don't know, my nephews Euan and Gregor (today aged 16 and 14 years old) both have a chronic lung disease called PCD and so I have chosen to raise money for the PCD Family Support Group (check out the support group's website for more details).

A challenge that is not for the light hearted but one that I cannot turn down, I thought running was difficult to start with, this time walking will probably prove tricky towards the end and breathing will be more difficult the higher we climb - which will make me think of my nephews even more and appreciate the difficulties they have on a regular (if not daily) basis.

Climbing with an old school buddy, Woody (my Duke of Edinburgh partner-in-crime) and some friends, we're planning on making the trip during the last week of February 2012 - not long to go now, we're already in countdown mode.

I'm motivated, kitted out and ready to roll (back down the mountain of course!) so please forward to family and friends, mountain lovers, people who like challenges, extreme sportspeople, anyone who might just take an interest and wish to sponsor me and the team who are with me.
