On the 6th March 2021 our amazing mum, our Dad's amazing wife, and Harry and Jack's Nana passed away. Our hearts are broken and anyone who had the privilege to know mum knows our loss is real because mum was so easy to love. 

Our mum had been living in poor health for over 30 years. Her biggest health challenges  included breast cancer, two strokes (since 2017), diabetes, and osteoporosis, which led to multiple major breaks in recent years. In 2011 she was also diagnosed with myelofibrosis, a form of chronic leukaemia. Mum was in pain every single day of her life but she never let it stop her. She approached everything with bravery, positivity, humour, generosity,  and kindness. Despite everything that she was going through she was always there for her friends and family. She was our everything and we know she fought every single day to stay with us. 

In February our mum had a pulmonary emoblism and was taken into hospital. We will never know for sure, but it is likely this was as a result of a progression of her blood cancer. While she was in hospital she picked up Covid and became very unwell. She tried so hard but she couldn't keep fighting any longer.

For the many years our mum lived with blood cancer she was supported by the most incredible cancer team. She took chemotherapy medication every day to keep her alive. The affects of this medication made her so unwell and some days were a complete struggle for mum. However Mum, being the most incredible person, said todays not a good day but tomorrow will be better. This medication meant she was able to be with us for longer and be here for the birth of her two beautiful grandsons, Harry and Jack. 

We are fundraising for Leukaemia UK to remember our mum and ensure that more families get that extra precious time with their loved ones. Leukaemia UK's mission is to improve the care and treatment for people with blood cancer, and help stop blood cancer happen in the first place. Charlotte will also be running the half marathon in October for Leukaemia UK in memory of our mum and best friend.
