Story
I am in my second year on the University of London Air Squadron (ULAS). Our chosen charity for this academic year is the Jon Egging Trust.
This charity was set up in honour of Flt Lt Jon Egging, a Red Arrows pilot who tragically lost his life whilst performing in an air display at the Bournemouth Air Festival on the 20th August 2011.
The Jon Egging Trust has began a youth engagement programme named 'Blue Skies' which provides disadvantaged young people with opportunities to help them achieve their full potential.
The Squadron aims to raise £10,000 this year through undertaking various events including a Coast to Coast bike ride, the 3 Peaks challenge, the Pathfinder March, the Nijmegen March and a group effort to row the distance of the Atlantic Ocean in our Town Headquarters.
These various challenges which are being undertaken by the ULAS students are merely the tip of the iceberg and many other events will be occuring over the summer to help support the charity.
Personally, I am undertaking the 3 Peaks Challenge and the Coast to Coast bike ride. I am so excited to be taking part in raising money for the Jon Egging Trust as it such a worthwhile cause and donations you give will be gratefully received.
