Story

EDIT - 26th March - I did it! Jumped from 13,000 ft (that's over two miles!!!).  I wasn't scared at all, but I really didn't enjoy the freefall part: found it hard to breathe and pressure on my ears felt like knitting needles were being driven in there... but then the parachute opened and it was amazing. A totally overwhelming experience: knowing you're so high and the only thing holding you up is a sheet of fabric and brilliant physics stuff.  I feel very priviledged to have experienced it.  But in case you're thinking it was all fun and games, I rather traumatically had to get up at 4.30am on the morning after the clocks went forward - so 3.30am *really*.  Trauma! I have *suffered*... so thanks for your donations. Your generosity is unexpectedly brilliant and going to a really fab cause.  xxxxx

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Firstly, two important things:

1 -  I'm paying for the jump myself - ALL THE MONEY YOU DONATE GOES TO CHARITY. I think it would be a bit cheeky otherwise.

2 - Evalina Family Trust provides accommodation for the families of sick children staying at Guy's and St Thomas'. When my dad was in intensive care in Oxford, I was really fortunate that the staff bent the rules and allowed me to stay over in the relatives' room after the 'allowed' first night. Otherwise I'd have been a long way from home with nowhere to stay - and sorting out a room wasn't hassle (or expense) I needed at that time. Ronald McDonald house allows families of sick kids to stay nearby and for free. It must be a great load off their minds, as it was off mine.

Forget the McDonalds connection - they sponsored the initial building programme but Evalina family trust needs public sponsorship to meet its running costs. It's a good cause: don't let your anti-globalisation principles get in the way, please.

So - if you can spare even a quid, I'd really appreciate it - and so would the charity. The aeroplane stuff is mostly just to get your attention, I suppose... (though I *will* really be doing it).

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
