I am Chaz and this is my horse called Bella, we have an opertunity to make a real difference by raising as much as we can. . . . .
"It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes." (an extract from the Help for Heroes site)
Different branches of sport had been challenged to raise money for Help for Heroes. You may have seen the all star Rugby match at Twickenham? Well this is the horse World's challenge and it has come from Lt Disney, a light Dragoon who lost his right foot and lower leg in Helmand in July 2009. The Taliban launched a RPG assault on his Spartan vehicle. Now he has challenged the Horse world to raise at least £1m for injured troops and we will respond!
Bella has been off with injury herself and we thought that getting fit for this sponsored ride whilst raising money for our wounded troops was quite appropriate and we have now done this sponsored ride:-
It really was a beutiful day, we traveled down the night before settled Bella to camp music round a BBQ and slept in the horsebox. Bright and early the Ascot building was almost obscured by the mist, it was going to be HOT. So we got organised and we had set off by 08:30 when the sun had almost burnt off all that cloud. . . . . .
Yes we had a lot of fun on the day but there is a very seriouse reason as to why we are doing this
- I am sure that you will Help our Heroes
