Brentwood Half Marathon 2014 · 23 March 2014 ·

Every week in the UK, around two families are told their child has neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer. We fund leading research projects to deliver new, effective and kinder treatments for children with neuroblastoma. With your help we can save more young lives.

Story

After the devastating news that our close friend's little Girl named Lily has cancer, I have decided to do something positive & I have signed up for the Brentwood half marathon which is on 23rd March 2014. As you may know, I am not the fittest person, I like my junk food and couldn't even run to the end of my road 6 months ago! So for me to sign up to this good cause is going to be a massive challenge and a challenge I am looking forward to. This is where you all fit into the picture and your help to support me firstly get round in one piece and more importantly the charity we are all collectively supporting to raise awareness for the type of Cancer that little Lily has been diagnosed with.

About Little Lily:

Lily was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma when she was 20 months old in August 2013. It is a rare, aggressive type of cancer, affecting only 100 children a year in the UK and early detection is paramount to successful treatment. Symptoms are similar to many common childhood illnesses which means it is often misdiagnosed. It was the persistence of Lily's parents with the doctors that has literally saved Lily's life; it has hopefully been caught early enough to treat successfully. By running the half marathon we are hoping to raise awareness of this awful disease. If we can enable just one parent to catch it early & save their child's life, then something good can come out of everything our brave little Lily, her parents, siblings, grandparents & the rest of her family have endured.

So please dig deep and help support me get across the line and this great charity for kids!
