As you may already know I love running and it's great to be able to help contribute towards raising money for these amazing charities.
This year I'm running my 4th marathon to help raise money for Save the Rhino. Please consider sponsoring me to help support the great work this organisation does to help protect these beatuiful animals.
What is happening to Rhino's?
At the turn of the 19th century, there were approximately one million rhinos. In 1970, there were around 70,000. Today, there are fewer than 24,500 rhinos surviving in the wild.
How has this happened?
Poaching for luxury products
Poaching for traditional Chinese medicine
Habitat loss
Political conflict
Mission statement of Save the Rhino
Save the Rhino works to conserve viable populations of critically endangered rhinos in Africa and Asia. The future of wildlife is inextricably linked to the communities that share its habitat. By funding field projects and through education, their goal is to deliver material, long-lasting and widespread benefits to rhinos and other endangered species, ecosystems and to the people living in these areas.
Aim
To increase the number of rhinos in genetically viable populations in the wild
To enhance the integrity of ecosystems
To ensure that local communities benefit from conservation activities
