Oldies Club is a dog rescue charity which is run by volunteers and helps dogs aged 7+. It often takes in dogs that have been neglected, resulting in large vet bills. Oldies Club places dogs in foster homes, where they are assessed and receive any veterinary treatment required before being rehomed.

Story

7 December 2011

Thank you SO much to everyone who has made a donation to my page and/or sent me good thoughts. I have added a new photo to show you how very handsome I still look! I am doing really well after my eye operation and the Oldies Club rehoming team is now accepting applications to adopt me. I deserve a very special home :-) Sir Chester Goodboy's rehoming page.

2 December 2011

Hi, I'm Chester, a ten year old blind, male Labrador Retriever who has Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). I came into foster care with Oldies Club, a UK charity which rescues and rehomes older dogs, a little while back.

Unfortunately, after arriving in foster care, it became apparent that I was distressed and in a lot of discomfort :( During an emergency vet appointment, the vet told my foster Mum that not only did I have a really nasty ear infection, but also that one of my eyes was so badly infected, I would need to have it removed :(

The vet said if veterinary treatment had been sought sooner (before I came into Oldies Club care), this could have been avoided - so if you are concerned about your dog's health, please take them to a vet.

I have now had my eye removed and am back at my lovely foster home, recovering. I wasn't feeling so good after the operation and had to go back to the vets for a check-over, but thankfully I am starting to feel better now.

Oldies Club is covering the cost of my vet bills, including my operation, so I have set up this page to help them raise some money. I'm not sure what the full total will be yet, so the target may be increased at a later date.

I would be really pleased if you donate towards the cost of my operation. I'm so glad Oldies Club was here for me and able to help me.

Every donation will make a difference. Please share my page with your dog loving friends too, in case they would like to help me as well.

Please note that should Oldies Club supporters be generous enough to donate more than is needed for my vet bill, any excess money will be directed to the charity’s general fund and used to help other older dogs in its care.

Thank you very much,

Chester

    x

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
