Hi
Firstly I would like to thank every one who has donated money to this Charity and Sponsored Will and Me in our efforts. We managed to run the 1/2 marathon in 2 hours. I have my tale of woe, as all runners do who dont acheive as well as they hoped.
We managed to run all of the 13.1 miles although Will ran far better than I. I pulled my calf muscle two weeks prior, rested for two weeks but it had not healed and tore again at about 4 miles. Will was running extremly well, as I had stopped at that point I sent him on. I managed to walk a little then hop and finally trot round the remaining miles.
Will also had an injury towards the end pulling a muscle, and so we finished closer together than I expected.
I am so glad no one took up our challenge of sponsorship at different times/speeds!
Once again thank you for your contributions. If you have signed the sponsor forms but wish to donate online please make your name available for me to view.
regards Paul and Will

Below is their story.
The Brentwood Catholic Children's Society was established in 1984. Following the closure of two nearby children's home, a young Basildon priest questioned what the Catholic Church could do for children and their families undergoing short term crisis but needing long term care. With his Bishop's approval, Fr. John Armitage formed the Brentwood Catholic Children's Society to give immediate, unconditional help and care to those children and families in need.
We see our work as a moral as well as a social responsibility. We hold strong Christian convictions regarding the value of human life and seek not only to ensure the well-being of the children for whom we care, but to do so wherever possible within the context of the family unit. We gladly embrace children of all religions, or of none.
Today, this service extends throughout the whole of the county of Essex and five East London Boroughs. A staff of fifteen includes ten professionally qualified social workers supported by four part time administrators. The Society receives no national or local statutory funding of any kind. Neither does it draw from diocesan funds. Indeed, its proud boast is that it raises its own finance with the unstinting help of supporters and benefactors
