Based in Andover, the Countess of Brecknock Hospice provides palliative and end of life specialist care to people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. Outstanding care is given wherever it is needed, this can be within the inpatient unit, the day care facility or the patient’s home.

Story

Recently, one of our best friends, Jacob, lost his dad, Chris after a long battle with cancer. Chris was an amazing man and we were all so privileged to know him and be able to hear some of his amazing stories and share his good sense of humor (and his love of fancy dress!).

In honor of Chris' memory, and to show solidarity and support for our bestie Jacob, nine of us will be running the Basingstoke 10k in October. We will be raising funds for The Countess of Brecknock Hospice where Chris spent some time and they looked after the family with such care and compassion, making his time there as special it could be for him, and the family.

Those of you who have met me before, know that I hate exercising, other than when drunk and so whilst a 10K may not be much to some people, it is a huge task for little ole me! I don't even own running trainers, and I'm pretty sure I my legs and lungs will not forgive me for this! But it's nothing compared to what Chris has gone through and even if I drag myself over that line, I will get to the end!

Any contribution you can make would be amazing, and motivate me to keep training. Ultimately, if we can help others to feel as cared for and supported as the Corner's felt, and do it in Chris' memory then the whole experience will be worth it.

Thank-you so much!
