Story
We are a group of 6 mums (none of whom have rowed before) who are jumping in at the deep end to row from Dover to Calais on June 8th to raise 12K for the Ahoy centre, a Thames-based sailing charity that changes the lives of young vulnerable people and those with disabilities.
We've been training since January on the Thames in gritty Deptford, SE London in some of the most dismal and freezing weather imaginable! Pimm's at Henley this ain't.
We need to raise 2K each so please support me. I am pretty certain this will sort out my mid-life crisis so I won't be back rattling my tin again!
To get a disabled person on the water for a day costs £80.
To train one young disabled person for an RYA (Royal Yachting Association) qualification is £1000.
To train a disadvantaged or at risk youth to become an RYA assistant instructor is £2400.
The charity is fantastic, and does so much good and really captures the imagination of the people it helps in a way other charities just can’t. Your donation will really help to enhance the lives of others around us.
