2015 in 2015 for ME · 1 January 2015

ME Research UK exists solely to fund high quality biomedical studies into the causes and treatment of ME/CFS. This illness affects approximately 250,000 people in the UK but is neither well understood nor, in many cases, properly recognised. We fund highly regarded, peer-reviewed research worldwide.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 2012 my wife Jocelyne was diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalopathy (ME) or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).  This diagnosis followed years of trying to find out what her symptoms were.  Some of the delay in diagnosis was down to the lack of knowledge and understanding of this debilitating illness.

I took up running by way of doing something to help support the local ME Charity and have completed a few half marathons.  Recently I've wanted to do something bigger to primarily raise awareness and hopefully raise some more funds along the way.

So I came up with the idea of running 2,015 miles in 2015.  I wanted to do something that would challenge me, my body, my fitness and energy levels.  I felt this would be the closest I would get to experiencing the highs and lows of energy an ME/CFS sufferer experiences.

This is just as much about raising awareness of the illness as raising money.  If, however, you would like to donate then that would be hugely appreciated.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

A huge thank you for your support and for visiting my page.
