Story
I am running the London Marathon and raising funds for national disability charity ‘Contact a Family.’ Since the 1970s ‘Contact a Family’ has worked to support disabled children and their loved ones.
The charity’s work reaches twenty percent of the UK’s 800,000 disabled children. The organisation is based around the principle that families can help each other. As well as providing invaluable information and advice for families, they help families to meet other families, which can break down the isolation and inequality that many face.
For over 30 years the organisation has aimed to help families get the support they deserve, alleviate the financial disadvantages many face and work with families so that, together they can deal with the challenges they face. I am hoping to use his London Marathon to help ‘Contact a Family’ raise vital funds to support their mission to ensure families with disabled children are understood, valued and included as equals in their communities and society.
