Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Sunday 4 August I managed to complete Ironman UK in 14hrs 19mins.
The event was very tough, with the weather conditions (hot and very windy on the bike and torrential rain for most of the marathon) adding to the challenge!
For the most part my legs held up really well. Unfortunately my tummy didnt! This led to some tough moments and an excruciating marathon that lasted well over an hour longer than it should have.
At the end it was worth it and I got to celebrate with family and friends.
Thanks to all who have donated to Brain Tumour UK. If you know me or have read the story below you will understand why I do the things I do and why this charity is close to my heart.
Thank you so much for your generosity.
Cheers
Chris
For those of you who know me you probably thought I'd stopped doing crazy events for charity after completing the JOGLE challenge in 2011. Well, not quite! I've decided to take on my toughest challenge so far by entering Ironman UK. This event is a long distance triathlon and consists of a 2.4mile lake swim, followed by a 112mile bike ride and finishes with a full marathon, all in under 17 hours.
Im doing the event to raise awareness and funds for Brain Tumour UK. I have completed events for this charity since my best friend was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2006. He died in September 2009 leaving a wife and two children. His youngest son was 4 when he died. The illness and passing have had a life changing effect on me and others and in his name we have raised around £15000 so far for Brain Tumour UK. My friends name was Lee Wilkinson.
So if you would like to help a great cause or are just willing to give money to ensure I go through with the event and no doubt the most pain and mental torture I'm ever likely to experience your donations will be gratefully received.
Thanks
Chris
