Coast to Coast - Hadrians Wall · 4 May 2013

Our mission is to support and empower autistic and neurodivergent individuals through the provision of holistic person-centred services, whilst promoting training, wellbeing, inclusion and acceptance regionally and nationwide.

Story

After the success of the 3 Peaks Challenge in August, Mammoet UK have decided to embark on the Coast to Coast cycling in 2013. The plan is to complete the cycling over the 3 days on May bank Holiday 4/5/6th. Staying in hostel accommodation on the nights of the 4th & 5th

For those of you who aren’t sure of the coast to coast it is a 3 day bike ride from Ravensglass on the west coast to South Shields on the East Coast. The route follows Hadrian’s wall and is more of a Trail track with a distance of approximatly 180mile, stopping at Siloth and Hexham for the 2 nights rest!

With more than half a million people in the UK with autism, it is much more common than most people think. Taking into consideration family members and professionals involved in the care and support of people with autism, more than 2.3 million are affected.

People with autism have said that the world, to them, is a mass of people, places and events that they struggle to make sense of. This can cause them considerable anxiety, in particular when trying to understand and relate to other people, and take part in everyday family and social life.

This is where Daisy Chain comes in; we work to remove that anxiety by providing a safe, fun and friendly environment, where children can be themselves. Parents and carers can sometimes need an extra hand of support, respite or even just someone to talk to whilst siblings can enjoy time to themselves and to interact with other children that have brothers and sisters with autism.

We believe that Daisy Chain makes a demonstrable, significant and sustainable difference to the lives of the hundreds families across the Tees Valley we help.
