Story
Thank you so much for supporting us on our recent 100km walk from London to Brighton in aid of Operation Smile UK. We really appreciated your support towards our cause. It was a tough walk that lasted a grand total of 32 hours, 29 minutes and 35 seconds!
As you know, Chris was born with a cleft and Operation Smile is a charity that’s close to our hearts - one we can certainly relate to personally. We still find it shocking to think that every 3 minutes a child is born with a cleft.
Thousands of children all over the world have no access to the surgical care - so, without your support, they may well have to live their whole lives with the very real and damaging consequences of a cleft lip and/or cleft palate in some of the world’s most resource-poor countries. It’s amazing how it can cost just £150 and take as little as 45 minutes to repair a cleft lip and change that person’s life forever - enabling them to live their lives to the full. Thanks to you sponsoring our tough challenge, Operation Smile can create smiles and give children and adults a fresh start in life.
To date we have raised enough funds to provide surgery for 20 people living with an untreated cleft condition. Now that is incredible!!
Last August, Chris joined the team on a mission to Zomba, Malawi, where over 50 medical professionals volunteered to bring surgery to adults and children with untreated cleft lip and cleft palate. We were able to see first-hand each step of Operation Smile’s vision and how the generosity Chris sees in his everyday work is impacting those most in need around the world.
Operation Smile estimates that there are more than 2,350 children and adults living with an un-repaired cleft in Malawi, with over 600,000 people worldwide. A condition that Chris had repaired at just 3 months old.
Once again, on behalf of both of us and all the people Operation Smile support, thank you for your support!
