On Sunday 11th October, I am taking on the challenge of taking part in the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon (13.1 miles) and at the same time, aiming to raise as much money as possible for Wakefield Hospice. As well as the pain of running 13.1 miles, I have decided to stop drinking for the month leading up to the event which for those who know me well, is a challenge in its self!!!

Wakefield Hospice is a purpose-built specialist palliative care unit that opened in April 1990 providing 8 single in-patient bedrooms, a Day Care Unit for 16 patients, bereavement support and education. See below some of the costs that the Hospice incurs on a daily basis!

£5 = patient meal

£10 = bath towel

£15 = bedding

£33 = Day Therapy Drop-In Session (per person)

£60 = Complementary Therapy Session (per person)

£428 = per in-patient bed, per day

£1,422 = daily to operate our Day Therapy Unit

No matter what you can afford, every penny counts, so please give generously.

Many Thanks

Chris Law
