Story

On the 30th of August, 2011, my brother Nick, my flatmate Luiz and I are going to kayak 62 miles (100 km) along the Caledonian canal from Loch Linnie near Fort William to the Beauly Firth at Inverness.

We will be camping at night with the midges, who are not friends of mine, and aim to complete this journey in 3 days, which is not particularly leisurely, so any donations would be a great motivation!

All donations will go to Barnardos, who help children in trouble or poverty in many ways, for example: counselling, education and local centres for parenting support.

Barnardos helps children help themselves and particularly in light of the recent UK riots, I think charities like them have a part to play: £84 could pay for training equipment for three young people living in poverty to attend a vocational course.

If you feel compelled, I thank you very much for your generosity.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.

Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
