Story

Thanks for visiting our page….

Rachel and I are raising money for a very special cause.  Rett Syndrome.

Rachel is walking 3 marathons over 3 days...  78.5 miles

Rachel and Chris are both doing the 'Grim' in November 2013

There are a few other events happening over the year...

And the children won't get off scott free either :-)

Why ?

A good friend has a little girl Lauren suffering from Rett Syndrome.  This condition means that the road ahead for Helen, Andy and her brother William is very different from many other families.

Rett Syndrome is a debilitating disorder which most often strikes previously healthy little girls just after they have learned to walk and say a few words and begins to drag their development backwards.

As the cascade of Rett symptoms descends, girls lose acquired skills, normal movement and speech. Girls are left unable to communicate or use their hands to hold, carry or manipulate objects.

Over time, girls who have learned to walk often lose that ability as well. Loss of motor control sets in, essentially locking these girls into bodies that won't work, leaving them without the ability to make puroposeful movements.

This can be reversed... but this needs research and funding.  Please help make a difference to a small charity that could one day see the irradication of this awful condition.

In advance, thank you, thank you, thank you.
