Story

I can think of at least 100 reasons not to run the London Marathon this year.

Firstly, I did it last year and I know how painful it is, especially after 18 miles which is the maximum my body is designed to run. Secondly, I simply don't like running, far too much effort, especially when you have to force yourself out at weekends for a long run when your legs ache anyway after midweek runs with the smell of bacon sandwiches filling the air and people talking about going for a Sunday lunchtime drink. Thirdly, it means spending time in London for the event itself with Nigel Flook listening to how he is going to smash the four hour barrier and then laugh at me when I eventually arrive helped over the line by St Johns Ambulance volunteers while he does energetic warm down exercises. I could go on and on but "they" are insisting I do it again. "they" know who "they" are, I resisted but here I am doing it again, well, it's for charity isn't it.

Again, I am running for ASSERT, an excellent charity dealing with support, research and education for those affected by Angelman Syndrome, a rare neurological condition. Please take time to look at their website. The London Marathon is a major fund raising event for this charity and your donation is much needed, thank you for whatever you are able to donate

Roll on Buckingham Palace!, only 26 miles to go! (and 3 months of training)
